Beverly McChesney, Bassoon/Fagot

Bassoonist Beverly McChesney is a second-generation San Francisco native who has been performing professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area for over thirty years. Her earliest exposure to music was the Leonard Bernstein Young People's Concerts broadcast on television and from that time she has been influenced by many genres of music from  classical symphony, opera and ballet to Broadway musicals to rock, R&B, Motown and music of the avant-garde.

Over the course of her career, Beverly earned a Bachelor's Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, performed in numerous Broadway musical orchestras, performed with nearly all the San Francisco regional orchestras, and was the principal bassoonist of the Women's Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty-three years. She is currently the principal bassoonist of the North State Symphony. She has managed and performed with chamber music ensembles for the past twenty-five years and in 2003 produced a CD for the Bellavente Wind Quintet titled Jewels of the Night.

Beverly loves performing with Quinteto Latino because of the great opportunity to showcase the works of composers of Latin American origin and to work with such dedicated and gifted musicians. She lives in San Mateo with her husband Doug and two kitties, and loves spending time with her three grown children and four grandchildren.
