History
Quinteto Latino, a wind quintet specializing in the interpretation of Latin American classical music, was founded in 2001 by French hornist Armando Castellano. Since the group's inception, these passionate artists and enthusiastic educators have dedicated themselves to performing with world-class artistry in communities not traditionally served by classical musicians. Though a musician his entire life, Armando rarely had the opportunity to perform works culturally relevant to him and his community until the formation of this unique ensemble. By championing young and lesser-known composers of Latin American and Caribbean heritage, Quinteto Latino seeks to expand the boundaries of classical music, reach new audiences, and inspire new generations of players.

We will again join the San Francisco Symphony's acclaimed Adventures in Music (AIM) program for their 20th Anniversary during the 2007-2008 season! Through this amazing program, we will reach every 1st and 2nd grader in each of the San Francisco Unified School District public elementary schools, approximately 9,000 students. We are honored to be selected again this year as AIM ensembles can only be hired once every two years. When we were hired by AIM during the 2005 - 2006 academic year we were so successful that the San Francisco Symphony invited their entire board of directors to watch us in action - entertaining and educating kids at Buena Vista Elementary School in Bernal Heights. If you'd like to attend one of these private concerts as our guest, please email us. |

This year will be our fourth (4 th ) season as a Young Audiences of Northern California artist. Through Young Audiences we travel the greater Bay Area (extending from Sacramento, to San Francisco, to Gilroy) bringing music to schoolchildren. We are one of Young Audience's favorite ensembles and have been featured in all of their teacher showcases since getting on their roster. If you'd like to attend one of these private concerts as our guest, please email us. |
